Does your neurotypical child have questions about having a brother or sister with special needs?
Does she complain that her sister with special needs gets all of the attention and that you never take her side?
Does your son act like a mini-parent, taking on too much of the emotional responsibility for his sibling with special needs?
This workshop is intended for children aged 9-12 who have a sibling with special needs. It will include a chance to connect and hear from other kids who can relate to the challenges of having a sibling with special needs, ideas on how to be supportive of their sibling, and psycho-education about taking care of themselves emotionally. The group will be part therapist-structured conversation and part fun activities.
This is a kids only session led by Melanie Kaplan, LCSW.
Next session: Saturday, November 19th 10:00-11:30am in the Fairfax office
Cost: $30 per child
