November 25, 2011Constantina is a Licensed and Nationally Certified School Psychologist with a broad range of professional and academic experiences with elementary, middle, and high school students. Constantina’s goal is to “understand my clients’ thinking, find the gaps in their skills and then teach coping strategies to help them to be more successful.” She looks closely at family dynamics and helps parents in developing more effective ways of supporting their children. Her career within the Fairfax County Public School system has led to an expertise in conducting psycho-educational assessments, school observations and intervention plans, and consultation with parents and school personnel. As a member of the special education eligibility committee at several schools, Constantina advises on issues contributing to underachievement and learning difficulties including anxiety and depression. Constantina enjoys working with kids and their parents, specializing in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for kids who suffer from Anxiety and OCD (Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder), and Depression. She also enjoys coaching kids and their parents in boosting executive functioning skills (EFT) and developing organizational and effective study skills. Constantina has a unique passion for helping children assimilating from other countries as her post-doctoral dissertation focused on acculturation and social support among students of diverse nationalities and backgrounds. In her former life, she was a certified teacher for upper elementary, middle, and high school students. Constantina enjoys leading a variety of groups at In Step: Stepping Stones Social IQ parent groups, Girls Social Confidence groups, Teen Assimilation Group, and the Social IQ Development group for teens on the spectrum. Constantina is currently seeing clients virtually only.
Constantina earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago. She is married to a Foreign Service officer, and they have two children they love spending time with.
