Robert E. Axelrod, a licensed clinical social worker since 1990, earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology from The American University in Washington DC, and his Masters in Social Work from Tulane University. As a social worker for Fairfax county for twenty-nine years, he worked for the juvenile courts, then at Northwest Center for Community Mental Health and more recently with the public school system. Bob has extensive experience with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings and modalities and is interested in the process of group dynamics as they affect individuals within a larger group, including families. During his time at In Step, Bob has worked with hundreds of families in group and individually, served as the intake coordinator and supervised clinicians who are earning their license in the state of Virginia. In addition to his clinical work, he is routinely asked to speak at schools and community events on a wide variety of topics including social skill development, bullying and anxiety. While not at work, Bob enjoys all things baseball, traveling and spending time with his family.
