Dr. Sebben earned his doctoral degree in Counselor Education at Boston University. He is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He has been in private practice since 1986 and joined In Step in 1995. He currently enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, couples and families. He leads groups that focus on young adult issues for those who have been diagnosed with depression and social anxiety. In addition, he leads a young adult group for those who have been identified on the autism spectrum. He has extensive experience working with clients diagnosed with ADHD and clients in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. He uses a variety of treatment strategies depending on the needs of the client and coordinates clinical services with other professionals and schools. Dr. Sebben retired from Fairfax County Public Schools where he worked as a Special Education Principal in both elementary and high schools for students identified as emotionally disturbed. He has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at George Mason University, University of Virginia and Marymount University. When not working at In Step, Dr. Sebben can be found enjoying the company of his wife, children and especially, grandchildren. He also swims with the L4 Master’s Swim Team, enjoys the theater, cheers for the Washington Nationals, reads, and travels. He does volunteer work at the Smithsonian Institution and finally he also gardens from Spring through Fall.
